Meet the Midwife

Jess is a highly experienced midwife with over 30 years experience in health, including 23 years in the Northern Rivers. Her midwifery career spans community and hospital-based continuity of care, Aboriginal Maternal & infant health, lactation support, midwifery education and health research. She has well-established relationships with health professionals and community organisations across the Northern Rivers; with a reputation for kindness, safety and collaboration.

Jess has refined a unique approach to being “with woman”: blending high-level, evidence-based clinical expertise with a genuinely heartfelt, relationship-based approach. With a Masters Midwifery and further specialist training in Trauma-Informed Care, Perinatal Mental Health and Family Partnerships, she is dedicated to ensuring women remain the lead in their own story. Jess offers a space where personal choices are respected and safety, both physical and emotional, is first and foremost at every visit.

Outside of her professional life, Jess is mamma to three amazing young adults and is blessed to be grandmother to the most darling boy in the world. She lives with her partner in the divine Hinterland of Northern Rivers, delighting in planting natives and welcoming local wildlife to her garden. She also loves yoga and live music.

Human Kind Midwifery was created by Jess as a culmination of many years learning what helps women feel supported, confident and safe when they are pregnant, when they birth and as they learn to become parents. As an Endorsed Midwife, she offers Medicare rebate-able pregnancy and postnatal services, and can order tests and prescribe scheduled medicines when needed. Whether in her clinic, your home or via telehealth, Jess offers an authentic partnership with confidence and skill that will enhance your perinatal journey.
